51st European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EEMGS) Meeting

From 15th to 18th May 2023 the 51st European Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society & 27th Spanish Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society Meeting (EEMGS / SEMA 2023) was held in Málaga (Spain).  During the conference new developments and applications in various fields of genotoxicology were presented, from genotoxicity tests to DNA repair and genome stability studies, from ecotoxicology to human biomonitoring, using innovative approaches and methods such as "next-generation sequencing" (NGS) and "machine learning".

The EEMGS/SEMA 2023 congress was accompanied by a satellite workshop organised by HUMN (HUman MicroNucleus) Project consortium and entitled “The buccal micronucleus (MN) cytome assay – New Horizons for its implementation in human biomonitoring and clinical studies”.

The teams involved in the BioPhyMeTRE project participated in the conference with 2 poster presentations:

“Background Level of Unstable Chromosome Aberrations in the Kazakhstan Population: a Human Biomonitoring Study”, presented by Antonella Testa

"Evaluation of Opuntia ficus-indica (OFI) extract as a potential natural radioprotector", presented by Clarice Patrono.
