The ENEA Division of Health Protection Technologies located in Casaccia Research Center (Rome), develops cellular and molecular methodologies, aimed to evaluate the effects of ionizing radiation and physical and chemical noxious agents on human health as a result of therapeutic, environmental and/or occupational exposure.
It also develops basic knowledge, procedures and technologies in order to convey to National Health System and sector industry products, pharmaceuticals and advanced systems for therapy and diagnosis of high social impact (radiobiology and radiotherapy, technologies and biomarkers for medical diagnostic, plants as bio-factories for biopharmaceuticals production.
The Institute of Radiation Safety and Ecology (IRSE) is located in Kurchatov city and is a branch of the Republican State Enterprise “National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan (RSE NNC RK). The total area of the Institute is about 21 hectares. The Institute is currently located in the territory of the former sector of military unit 52605 and deployed in five laboratory and four administrative buildings.
The main scientific line of the Institute’s activity is comprehensive research into the former Semipalatinsk Test Site (STS), development and implementation of measures for securing the radioecological situation in the STS and adjacent territories.
The Italian National Institute of Health (Istituto Superiore di Sanità, ISS) is the main Italian research institute in the biomedical and public health field. It is the technical and scientific body of the Italian National Health Service.
The mission of ISS is the promotion and protection of national and international public health through research, surveillance, regulation, control, prevention, communication, counselling and training. The ISS produces knowledge through research and trials and disseminates scientific knowledge and evidence to decision-makers, professional workers and citizens in order to protect and promote public health.
Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI) is the largest multidisciplinary research institute in Croatia. The main core facilities are situated in Zagreb with Centre for Marine Research located in the town of Rovinj.
Interdisciplinary research conducted at the Institute are in the areas of chemistry, biology, biomedicine and bioinformatics that have the goal of meeting challenges in medicine and biotechnology, drug manufacture; food and ecology; research focused on solving complex problems in connection with the sea and environment, including chemical, biological, mathematical, biochemical, geological, veterinary, medical, physical and oceanographic research; in the areas of physics and chemistry that have the goal of preparing new materials and sensors, the development of analytic techniques for their characterization and the expansion of knowledge in the area of photonics and radiation technologies; as well as in development of e-sciences with applications in various fields, such as bioscience, biotechnology, biomedicine, materials science and the modelling of complex system.
